In 2022. Dj Khalid & DJ Drama.
What skills do you think DJs need to be successful?
They definitely need an ear for music, great personality, branding, and turn table skills.
How do you stay up to date with the latest music trends?
Social media, going to clubs, and checking new music on streaming platforms.
What techniques do you use to engage the audience?
MC’ing & reading the crowd.
What would you say is the most rewarding part of being a DJ?
Seeing the crowd engaged while having a good time.
What do you usually start with when preparing for a set?
I start with a prayer .
What makes you decide to play a particular record during one of your sets? Is there a criteria other than pure subjectivity, for selecting what to play at a gig?
It depends on how the crowd is vibing. Yes, the energy of the song & the production is the criteria for selecting songs.
How did you spend your lockdown/pandemic time? What did you accomplish before the entertainment world began to open up again?
I learned the breakdown of music during lockdown. I accomplished the knowledge of music.
What makes you different from other DJs?
My branding, willingness to go against the grain.
